Woman poisons self, two children to death CRIME NOTES

BANGALORE: A woman poisoned her two children to death and committed suicide by taking poison at her house in Anekal police station limits on Monday.

The police gave her name as Prema (26), wife of construction worker Srinivasa and a resident of Nayaranapura village.

Her children were identified as Monica (7), a Class 1 student, and Satya (3). The incident came to light on Monday night when Srinivasa returned home from work. The police suspect that Prema had taken the extreme step because of financial problems. The Anekal police have registered a case.

Chain snatched

Two youths on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 50,000 from Indira in Channamanakere Achukattu police station limits on Tuesday. The police said the duo snatched the chain from Indira was while she was walking near Banagirinagar in 2nd Stage, Banashankari around 6.30 a.m.

Two killed

Kalidas (50) of Ulsoor was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from Indiranagar traffic police station limits on Monday night.

The police said that around 10 p.m. a vehicle knocked down Kalidas while he was crossing Old Madras Road, opposite the BMTC depot. The Indiranagar traffic police registered a case and are on the lookout for the vehicle.

In another incident, Kishore (30) was killed after a lorry hit his motorcycle in Peenya traffic police station limits on Monday.

Recovered

The Seshadripuram police have arrested Kiran Raj (18) of Rajajinagar on charges of burglary and recovered from him gold ornaments and electronic goods, all worth Rs. 2 lakh. The police said that since May, Kiran had burgled four houses in Seshadripuram police station limits.

On the pretext of collecting donations for orphan children, Kiran went around the city and identified locked houses. He struck at such houses in the night.

He had earlier done time after the West division police arrested him in theft cases, the police said.

In another case, the Seshadripuram police have arrested two youths who had allegedly stabbed six men in separate incidents and robbed them of gold chains and mobile phones.

The police gave their names as Srinivasa alias Ravi Kumar (23) of Tumkur district and Kumar (23) of Chitradurga district.

The police have recovered two gold chains and six mobile phones, together worth Rs. one lakh, the two had pledged with Kumar (29) of Magadi Road.
