Government can inspect schools if they violate norms: court
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday gave liberty to the Government to inspect primary schools and initiate action against them if they were found to be violating any of the terms in the affidavit they had filed before the court.
Many schools had either filed affidavits or given an undertaking to teach in Kannada or the medium of instruction for which they were granted recognition.
The Government issued notices of derecognition after it found that more than 2,200 primary schools had violated the policy on medium of instruction.
On Tuesday, 12 schools filed affidavits undertaking to abide by the policy on medium of instruction.
Justice B.S. Patil stayed the notices of derecognition.
He, however, said the Government is at liberty to inspect schools which had filed the affidavits and take action if they were found to be violating the terms of the affidavit.
