Elections to urban local bodies
Bangalore: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday informed the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly that deputy commissioners had been directed to complete all procedures before July 31 to hold elections to urban local bodies barring the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and inform the State Election Commission.
Replying to a debate on the issue raised by R. Ramalinga Reddy (Congress) and other Congress members, the Chief Minister refuted their allegation that the elections, particularly to the BBMP, were being postponed with an ulterior motive.
The Congress members led by the Leader of the Opposition N. Dharam Singh staged a walkout earlier demanding that the Government hold elections within six months of the term of the civic bodies ending. — Staff Reporter
