Focus on Triplicane in Old Madras

CHENNAI: Historical Triplicane was the theme of the annual presentation on Old Madras by Swarna Ananta Padmam Foundation at Bharathiyar Illam here on Wednesday.

Ananth of the Foundation talked about the role of Triplicane in the creation of Madras-Chennapatna and noted that there had always been an independent and strong community in the region. Venkatesan (94) was felicitated as the oldest living resident of the area. He inaugurated the Local and Oral History Society for Triplicane.

Another resident S. Parthasarathy presided and spoke about the illustrious people who have lived in Triplicane, including Bharathiyar and Swami Vivekananda. Participant took a pledge to cherish and serve Triplicane.
