MYSORE: Two persons have died reportedly owing to excessive consumption of arrack that was banned in the State from Sunday. The dead were identified as Ramesh (26), a resident of Pulikeshi Road, and Dasaiah (45) who lived in a slum near the Highway Circle. Though the exact cause of their death is not clear local residents and family members of Ramesh and Dasaiah attributed their deaths to excessive consumption of arrack on Saturday night. Both were in habit of drinking to their fill, according to the residents of the area. With this, the death owing to excessive drinking in the city has gone up to three as Soma, a painter, was found dead under similar circumstances on Saturday. The State Government’s ban on sale of arrack which came into effect from Sunday had the dealers clearing the stock at throw-away price. Meanwhile, Tanvir Sait, MLA, and other Congress leaders called on the bereaved family members and blamed the Excise Department for the faulty implementation of the ban.
