CHENNAI: Whether you're really buying a car, or just building castles in the air, the MetroPlus Lifestyle show might just be the best place to check out the latest in the automobile market. With General Motors, Toyota, Hyundai Honda and Maruti participating, it's a Disneyland for automobile enthusiasts. You can check out the cheeky green Chevrolet Spark here, for instance, accompanied by enthusiastic sales people who will discuss everything from fuel consumption to the colour palette with you. If sitting in fancy cars and pretending to drive bores you, you just need to wander for a bit till you find something that catches your fancy. With so many products spread over 86,000 sq feet and 350 stalls, that won't take too long. The international pavilion showcases jewellery from Thailand, along with colourful lamp shades and unusual items such as mango wood vases. It also has artefacts from Laos, Vietnam and Pakistan. There are even stalls from Egypt, displaying and selling paintings done on papyrus. From jewellery to handbags, LCD televisions to double decker beds, treadmills to beanbags, the Lifestyle show features a variety of lifestyle products. There's even a lounge chair for dedicated couch potatoes, which offers massages. And, of course, air-conditioning and a well-stocked food court, because serious shopping can be quite demanding. The show is on at the Chennai Trade Centre till June 4.
