Bank branch shifted

CHENNAI: Federal Bank Limited recently had its branch shifted to and an ATM inaugurated at Anna Nagar. Minister Suba Thangavelan inaugurated the new premises.

Jayanthi fete

Veda Pata Nidhi Trust, Mylapore, celebrated the 114th jayanthi of Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swami on Thursday. The celebration, which will extend till January 2008, would be covered with music, dance programmes and discourses on veda. A souvenir on the teachings of Paramacharya will also be released on the final day of the celebration.

Interactive session

MoU signed

The Madras Medical Mission signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Lions International 324A2 District. Lions Club has agreed to sponsor cardiac surgeries for 50 underprivileged patients.

Healthcare facilities

FLSmidth, a Denmark-based multinational engineering organisation, which recently commenced its operations in Egattur, entered into a memorandum of understanding with Chettinad Hospitals, Padur. The hospital will provide healthcare facilities to employees of FLSmidth.

Action committee

An action committee has been formed to protect the land and premises of Cochin Palace, situated on Greames Road.

Two accused held

The Puzhal police arrested two associates of Vellai Ravi from a farmhouse in Cholavaram on Saturday.

The two were identified as M. Shivakumar (23) and N. Anandan (25). Police said Shivakumar worked as a sentry, when the businessman Rajkumar was kidnapped.

The other person Anandan was a neighbour to the businessman who passed on information about the movement of the businessman to Vellai Ravi. Further investigation is on.
