Boy injured in accidental firing

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: A 12-year-old boy was injured, when bullets, accidentally fired from a gun, pierced his body at a house in Thiruvanmiyur on Saturday.

According to police, a group of boys went to the house on Rajagopalan Street at 3.30 p.m. to pluck mangoes. Shortly, the locals heard a noise and loud screams.

One of the boys, Manikandan, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of the bullet wounds.

City Police Commissioner Letika Saran said the pellets were not embedded deeply in the boy's body.

The incident occurred in front of a house of an Army Captain who was out of town.
