Government charged with not following any guidelines in the selection of model farmers

HYDERABAD:
The Andhra Pradesh Ryotu Sangham has criticised the State Government for enrolling Congress cadres under the "model farmers" scheme for providing employment to them through Government schemes.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Ryotu Sangham president K. Ramakrishna charged the Government with not following any guidelines in the selection of model farmers who would be entitled for monthly honorarium.
This gave scope for the Ministers, district in-charge Ministers and ruling party legislators to rope in the people of their choice as model farmers.
Moreover, Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy had asked the selected persons to act as a bridge between the Government and farmers.
"This clearly shows that the Congress leaders will use these model farmers as its agents among farmers," he said demanding that the Government finalise guidelines.
