Kidambi among the leaders

NEW DELHI: Seasoned International Master S. Kidambi upstaged 10th seeded Armenian Grandmaster Tigran Petrosian to be among the 10 leaders after four rounds of the Dubai Open chess tournament at Dubai on Wednesday.

Kidambi took his tally to 3.5 points, half a point more than five other Indians, R.B. Ramesh, K. Humpy, her fifth-round rival Eesha Karavade, B. Adhiban and M.R. Lalith Babu.

Eesha stuns Zhu Chen

Eesha, rated 2343, pulled off the other sensation of the day when she defeated former women's World champion and 15th seeded GM Zhu Chen (2531).

Lalith Babu (2320) brought down 23 rd seeded Qatari IM Mohammad Al Sayed (2483) and Adhiban scored an expected victory over Austria's Ronald Frosch on a day when most Indians remained undefeated.

Former World under-12 boys champion N. Srinath played way over his rating of 2267 to hold GM-norm aspirant G.N. Gopal, rated 2455.
