DHAKA: Arafat Rahman, the youngest son of the former Bangladesh Prime Minister, Khaleda Zia, was arrested by security forces on Monday. Police confirmed the arrest but did not give further details. Mr. Arafat, a controversial businessman, was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. The forces also conducted a search in the house. Mr. Arafat, who runs a chain of businesses including a river transport company and an advertising firm had been in virtual house arrest for the past one month following his elder brother Tarique Rahman's arrest. He allegedly drove his opponents out of the market during his mother's five-year rule. Meanwhile, the Law Minister under Ms. Zia, Moudud Ahmed, has been remanded to four days of police custody.
