`Global' education for local children

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: They have a dream to build a model institution where every student is given an opportunity to develop his/her potential to the optimum level and enable him to be creative, competent, and progressive as well as responsible person.

The promoters of Treamis World School, located in Electronics City and scheduled to open in July, have plans in place to offer "true" global education to local as well as children of relocating global employees.

Curriculum

The curriculum at Treamis is interesting. At the lower level, it offers a curriculum that is integrated with the U.S. and in the high school, it provides a choice of Indian (CBSE), Cambridge (IGSCE), International Baccalaureate (IB), and the U.S. curriculum.

"The objective of our institution is to create an effective schooling system by developing in the student an attitude of self-learning and self-directed learning," says managing director Venkatesh Koravadi, who owns a software company in the U.S.

It is the endeavour of the school to create awareness among students with the help of the curriculum and about their role in society and to make each of its students a complete individual with a well-balanced personality. The learning environment focuses on six values that mould the characters of the students — teamwork, respect, responsibility, ethics, etiquette and service.

These core values will be embedded in the process of every activity the student participates from bus ride to academics, music, sports, lunch periods and interschool competitions, he says.

"Therefore, what is to be taught to students is not only the content, but also the processes and learning skills that will really help them," says director Dakshayini Kanna. Teaming with Morgan Park Academy of Chicago, TREAMIS offers students the option to spend a month or a semester studying in the U.S. at no additional cost, giving children the confidence necessary to perform successfully upon the global stage.

Facilities

The state-of-the-art facilities available at the school allow students to explore an extensive selection of activities, ranging from arts and crafts, through sports, performing arts, photography and filmmaking.

Measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of each child include the school's healthcare facility and advanced security system.

The annual fees will be between Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.5 lakh.
