Telemarketers on a high

Chennai:
Unsolicited calls and SMSs seem to have reached an all-time high with less than 10 days to go for the financial year closure.
Business associates of private banks and insurance companies are dialling mobile and landline numbers with an annoying regularity to present their offers.
The irony is that most of the callers claim that they are well within their rights to call.
"It is our duty to inform our customers," often the telemarketers claim.
"Do Not Call" registry
The Reserve Bank had ordered all banks and non-banking financial companies in the country to maintain a "Do Not Call" registry to prevent tele-marketing, just as the Telecom authority asked all service providers to maintain a "Do Not Disturb" registry. But it doesn't seem to be happening.
