Slum dwellers on dharna

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: With no relief coming from the DDA despite several reminders and appeals, residents of two slums in Vikaspuri, whose dwellings had been demolished last year, have been sitting on an indefinite dharna outside the office of the Deputy Director (Land Management), West Zone, since March 6.

They are alleging that in the name of relocation at Bawana , all that the slum dwellers of Sant Ravi Das Camp and Indira Camp got were open spaces without even basic amenities. Moreover, with no proof of residence, the slum dwellers have not been able to get their children admitted to schools nor are they able to access the PDS for their basic needs.
