KSA `A' wins tourney

Mysore : The Kodava Students Associations `A' registered a 4-2 (tie-breaker) win over South Western Railway, Hubli in the final to clinch the title in the Kodava Students Association (R), Mysore's 2nd State-level hockey tournament here at the University grounds on Sunday.

Right-extreme Sampath scored for the winners in the 45th minute and the equaliser came from left-out Shashidhar for South Western Railway in the 55th minute. Both the teams were 1-1 at full time.

In the tie-breaker Aiyanna, Mukesh and Sampath scored for KSA 'A' while only Shashidhar converted for the loser.

The winners took home a cash prize of Rs.16,000 and the runner-up Rs.8000 along with attractive trophies.

Special awards were given in the below given categories: Best goalkeeper: Nachappa (KSA 'A'); Best defender: M.L. Thimmanna (MDHA); Best half: Vinayak Bejwad (Young Star, Hubli); Best forward: Jitender Bagade (SWR, Hubli); Best team: Young Star SC, Hubli.
