India peaking at the right time: Jagdale

Mumbai: Sanjay Jagdale, Manager of the Indian cricket team for the ICC World Cup and national selector from Central Zone, said that India's batting is peaking at the right time.

"India did not have Sachin (Tendulkar) for the West Indies tour last year and later Yuvraj Singh for the South African tour. Now we have both and that's a good development. The home series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka has also helped the team to prepare itself for the World Cup.''

Touching on the pace bowling department, Jagadale said Munaf Patel, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar and S. Sreesanth are in good shape and Irfan Patahn should be ready soon.

With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Joint Secretary, Mohinder Pandove, expressing his inability to be away from the country for nearly two months, Jagdale will be the only Administrative Manager on the tour. Russell Radhakrishnan, the team co-ordinator during the home series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka, will assist him.

The Chief Administrative Officer of the BCCI, Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, said that the World Cup-bound contingent was briefed about the code of conduct through a power point presentation at the BCCI's cricket centre on Tuesday. The team is scheduled to reach Jamaica late on Monday. — Special Correspondent
