Section 144 imposed

The police have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 within a one-km radius of GVMC main office in view of the election for Mayor and Deputy Mayor on February 26.

Additional DCP P. Rama Rao said assembly of five or more people, use of arms, sticks, holding of meetings and rallies would not be allowed.

BSNL works

BSNL will strengthen the capacity of trunk automatic exchange (TAX) at Mindi.

This will help in meeting the demand for long distance telephone traffic needs of BSNL customers of Visakhapatnam telecom district.

A BSNL official said the related work would be carried out from Sunday midnight giving scope for inconvenience during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

Legal literacy camp

The District Legal Services Authority conducted a legal literacy camp at Diddi Jagannadham Kalyanamandapam near Manorama theatre on Saturday.

A large number of women participated. D. Leelavathi, chairperson, permanent Lok Adalat for Public Utility Services, B.S. Bhanumathi, IV Additional District Judge, M.R. Saravana Kumar, Senior Civil Judge-cum-secretary, D. Chiranjeevulu, First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Jesu Ratna Kumar, Special Judicial Magistrate of First Class for Excise and others took part.
