Bangalore: Nigil Raj's hat-trick powered MEG to a 4-1 triumph against LRDE in a State Super Division league match at the Football Stadium here on Tuesday. Nigil reaped the benefits as MEG toyed with an inept LRDE defence throughout the match. MEG went ahead in the 18th minute as Lokeshwar Singh scored off a Sarath Singh pass. Later Nigil Raj headed in a cross from Sarath in the 23rd minute. LRDE pulled one back as Saravana Lokesh converted a penalty in the 39th minute after MEG's Arun Singh handled the ball inside the box. In the second half, Nigil Raj slotted in two more goals (57th and 67th) to complete the hat-trick. Nigil first converted a Gurumurthy pass and later scored of a solo run. Meanwhile LRDE's Naveen and Saravana Lokesh failed to convert a series of crosses fired in from the right flank. Towards the fag end, Naveen did manage an airborne shot, which was promptly blocked by MEG goalkeeper Malay Paul. Earlier in an `A' division encounter, DYSH defeated Nationals 3-1. Nabeel, Kiran Kumar and Kalandar scored for the winner while Shyam Kumar slotted the lone goal for National. The super-division league will have a break from February 16 due to the NFL match between HAL and Sporting Clube De Goa here on February 18.
