IN PROTEST: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala inaugurating the United Democratic Front march at Chadayamangalam, near Kollam, on Thursday.
KOLLAM: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala has said that the showdown between the Chief Minister and the Ministers plus the tiff between the Ministers and the bureaucracy was hampering the development activities in the State. Inaugurating the United Democratic Front (UDF) march from Chadayamangalam on Thursday for speeding up the repair works on the Main Central (MC) Road, Mr. Chennithala said since the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government came to power not a single rupee worth of development activity had taken place in the State. He said that the UDF march is for registering protest against the LDF Government's attitude of ignoring development of the State. The plight of the MC Road is proof of the approach of the LDF Government towards the State, he said. The Ministers poking their noses into everything is the main reason why repair work on the MC Road came to a standstill. Mr. Chennithala inaugurated the march by handing over a flag to march captain K.B. Ganesh Kumar, MLA. DCC president and chairman of the district UDF committee Sooranad Rajashekaran presided over the inaugural function. The march was from Chadayamangalam to Kottarakara through the MC Road. At Ayur, Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran addressed the march. In the evening a parallel march from Chengannur led by Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, MLA, joined the one led by Mr. Ganesh Kumar at Kottarakara where a public meeting was held. Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy inaugurated the meeting. UDF leaders R. Balakrishna Pillai, Thalekunnil Basheer, Kodikunnil Suresh, Hidur Mohammed and A.Yunus Kunju, addressed.
