A forum for diplomacy

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The two-day international conference on Satyagraha in the Capital is doubling up as a forum for bilateral discussions between Congress president Sonia Gandhi and heads of State and governments. All the bilateral meetings were described as ``fruitful and productive'' by Congress spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan.

On Monday, Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and his counterpart from Slovenia, Janez Drnovsek, met Ms. Gandhi. She also held one-to-one meetings with the Prime Ministers of Sri Lanka and Mauritius, Ratnasiri Wickremanayake and Navinchandra Ramgoolam.
