ADILABAD: Adilabad Collector R. Subba Rao on Thursday urged bankers to extend Rs. 5,000 as loan to each of the two-lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the district towards their food security programme. He said the group members would be able to purchase rations to see them through a better part of the year thereby providing them security in terms of food. Addressing representatives of various banks at the District Consultative Committee meeting, the Collector also urged them to extend Rs. 10,000 loan to beneficiaries under the Indiramma programme on a priority basis. The State Government was according top priority to housing under this programme, he added. Saurabh Gaur, Project Officer, Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Utnoor suggested bankers extend crop loans to farmers whose lands were being covered under the ayacuts being developed due to new irrigation projects. He also urged bankers to identify the beneficiaries and forward their cases to ITDA so that the latter can provide required subsidies. The NABARD-prepared Potential linked credit plan 2007-2008 for the district was released by Mr. Subba Rao. Earlier, Lead District Manager Kishore Babu presented the progress report on the district's annual credit plan. NABARD DDM, T.V. Narasimha Rao, SBH Assistant General Manager Ch. Ashok Kumar, Deccan Grameena Bank General Manager M. Ramesh and others attended.
