Karunanidhi enjoys `Ilakkanam'

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at the screening of `Ilakkanam'.

Producer Mausi Shanmugam and director Chandra Chain were elated when Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi accepted their invitation to see their film `Ilakkanam'.

"Perhaps, this is one of those rare films in recent times to not use a single English word. Even for commonly used English words, we have used the Tamil equivalents. Kaval nilaiyam for police station, vaniga valagam for commercial complex, mithivandi for cycle and kuttra enn for crime number are some examples," said Mr. Shanmugam.

Pa.Vijay has written the lyrics for the songs, which also incorporate the poems of Bharathi and Bharathidasan.

The Chief Minister is reported to have enjoyed the film. He was also impressed with the music score of Bhavadarini, daughter of maestro Ilayaraja.

The film has Siva and Uma as the lead pair.
