40 kindergarten teachers take part Programme comprises 15 sessions
CHENNAI:
A 15-day teacher-training workshop organised by the Organisation of Muslim Educational Associations in Tamil Nadu (OMEIAT) Forum for Schools was inaugurated here on Saturday.
Over 40 kindergarten teachers from different Muslim minority institutions took part in the programme conducted by the Tamil Nadu Forces, a voluntary organisation under the Department of Social Work, Loyola College.
The programme was aimed at enabling teachers understand and monitor child development, and develop skills required for imparting early childhood education. K. Shanmugavelayutham of Tamil Nadu Forum for Crèche and Childcare Services (TN-FORCES) is the convenor of the programme.
"Our aim is to improve the quality of education in Muslim minority schools. We have started off with training kindergarten teachers. We will extend the programme to primary, secondary and higher secondary teachers soon," said OMEIAT chairman S. Ahamed Meeran.
Organisers said the programme, comprising 15 sessions, will be conducted on Saturdays till March 3, 2007. For details, call: 42605999.
