THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Students and faculty members in 21 engineering colleges across the State will hook themselves up to EDUSAT on October 17 to imbibe and share information on intellectual property rights (IPRs). The satellite-enabled interactive workshop on IPRs awareness is organised by the Patent Information Centre under the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) in collaboration with the Directorate of Technical Education and IT@School project. The 21 engineering colleges in Kerala equipped with satellite interactive terminals will be part of the network. The workshop would be first of its kind in Kerala, targeting a large audience simultaneously in all the 14 districts. About 2,000 students and faculty members are expected to benefit from the interaction, which is aimed at creating awareness about the importance of IPRs and procedures for protection. The workshop will be inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor, University of Kerala M.K.Ramachandran Nair. Dr.A.Damodaran, professor, IIM, Bangalore and V.P.Balagangadharan, head, Technology Transfer and Industry Coordination division, VSSC will lead the technical sessions.
