Euphoric event: Mamata

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday hailed Bangladeshi economist and Grameen Bank founder Mohammad Yunus for winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

"Good news for poor"

"Mohammad Yunus being awarded the Nobel prize is good news for the poorest of the poor in the world," Ms. Banerjee said in a letter to the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh here, Mohammad Imran.

"This euphoric event for the Bengalis cannot be confined to territorial boundaries," she said.

"We will felicitate [him] whenever Yunus will visit Kolkata," she said. — PTI
