THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 10-year-old boy who allegedly ran away from home seven months ago after his parents chided him for evading household chore was reunited with his family here at the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) on Tuesday evening. Sagar Ramesh Katak, a native of Bhosari, Pune in Maharashtra and a Class III student, ran away from home in February after his mother scolded him. The boy who reached here in March was rescued by the Railway Police and produced before the CJM after he was found wandering at the Thampanoor railway station. The boy was offered shelter at the juvenile home following directives from the CJM. Meanwhile a lecturer in criminology at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Maharashtra who came here for a workshop on juvenile justice came to know about the boy and passed on the information to SATHI, a society for assisting children in difficult situation. The society through its office in Pune informed the parents about the boy's whereabouts.
