KARIMNAGAR: Religious fervour and gaiety marked Dasara festival in Karimnagar district on Monday. Special prayers were performed at the temple shrines of Vemulawada, Dharmapuri, Kondagattu, Kaleshwaram and other places in the district. In Karimnagar town, special Dasara festivities were held at the historic Sri Gidde Perumandla Swamy Devasthanams at Kattarampur locality. Collector M.V. Satyanarayana, Mayor D. Shankar, devasthanam chairman K. Venugopal, Markfed chairman P. Prabhakar, DCC president T. Santosh Kumar and others participated in the special pujas.
Long queues
Since early morning, people in serpentine queues stood in the queue to have darshan of Lord Ganesha at the Gidde Parumandla Swamy Devasthanams. People have performed special pujas of their vehicles at the temple. The temple authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the festival with adequate barricading for the smooth passage of devotees.
Procession held
MAHABUBNAGAR : Dasara festival was celebrated with gaiety and fervour. Processions of Goddess Durga by various youth organisations marked the day. Idols of the Goddess installed in specially erected pandals were taken out on Vijayadasami on Monday. The Dasara Utsav committees have also conducted various other programmes as part of festival celebrations. In the morning, a `yagnam' was performed at Arya Samaj and also spiritual message was delivered. In the evening, a colourful procession was taken out by the members of Hanuman Vyayam Shala which culminated in a public meeting at Zilla Parishad grounds. After cultural programmes by Swaralahari Cultural Academy and messages by various speakers was over, huge mythological cut-outs of Ravana and others were busted with crackers. Mahabubnagar MP D.Vittal Rao, ZP Chairman K.Damodar Reddy, local MLA Puli Veeranna, DCC president S.Prakash also participated.
