Four golds for Nikhat Banu

ANANTAPUR: It was a quartet of golds for young Nikhat Banu in the State ranking table tennis tournament that concluded at the Anantapur Club here on Sunday.

Coached by M. Venugopal at the Gujarati Seva Mandal in Secunderabad, Nikhat walked away with the women's, youth, junior and sub-junior girls crowns. Shubham Sharma had a golden double too, emerging winner in the youth and junior boys categories.

Somnath Ghosh prevailed over T. Arundhar in the men's final.

The results: Men: Final: Somnath Ghosh bt T. Arundhar 11-13, 11-9, 6-1, 11-7, 11-8, 12-14, 11-6. (Semifinals): S. Ghosh bt Deepesh Singh 11-4, 11-1, 11-7, 13-11, T. Arundhar bt P. Vignay Reddy 13-11, 15-13, 12-10, 11-4.
