KBN College's donation for building sports hostel

VIJAYAWADA: The Kakarabharthi Bhavanarayana College management on Monday donated Rs. 3 lakh to Acharya Nagarjuna University for the construction of sports hostel in the university premises.

College secretary T. Srinivasu and president R. Ramaswamy handed over the cheque to ANU vice chancellor V. Balamohan Das.

The university authorities are constructing a sports hostel with an estimated cost of Rs. 6 crore.

Carrom teams

The Andhra Carrom Association on Monday announced the teams to participate in the junior nationals to be held at Patna from Oct. 5 to 10.

The teams: Junior boys: Sk. Elahi, A. Raghavendra (Prakasam), P. Faizal Khan, B. Ravindra Reddy, P. Faiz Khan (Guntur), A. Pavan (Vizag). Junior girls: Ch. Niharika, L. Sandhya, N. Rajalaskhsmi, S. V. Rajitha, S. Sandhya Rani (Guntur) and M.S.K. Harika (Vizag). Youth: Boys: V. Raghava, T. Teja (Guntur); Girls: S. Vinuthna (Krishna).

AP archers in Indian team

Vijayawada archers Ch. Lenin, M. Rishita and Guntur's Mangal Singh Champia have been selected to Indian teams set to participate in the series of forthcoming international competitions, said Krishna District Archery Association president Cherukuri Satyanarayana on Monday.

Speaking to The Hindu from Jamshedpur, Mr. Satyanarayana said that Ch. Lenin would represent India in the Asian Circuit meet to be held at Myanmar next month and also in the Commonwealth meet, Asian Games to be held at Doha. He would be participating the compound segment.

Anusha Junior College student M. Rishita will represent India in the compound segment in the Junior World Cup to be held in Mexico in October.

Guntur's Sanskrit College student Mangal Singh Champia, a specialist in recurve category, will represent India in the Asian Circuit, Commonwealth meet, Asian Games and in the World Cup.
