Sania plummets to 70 in rankings

New Delhi: Sania Mirza's second round exit in the U.S. Open saw her singles ranking plummet to a lowly 70 while Leander Paes's maiden U.S. Open doubles title ensured him gain three places in the latest rankings released on Monday.

This is the lowest ranking this season for the 19-year-old Hyderabad player who will feature in the Sunfeast Open, a WTA Tier III event, in Kolkata starting on September 18.

Paes moved up three places to ninth in the individual rankings among doubles players. — UNI
