Foreign official in altercation at airport

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: A top-ranking official of a foreign diplomatic mission here was allegedly involved in an altercation with security personnel in the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here early on Sunday.

The incident occurred when the official and his wife insisted on entering the airport's security hold to see off their two sons to London, according to sources. Personnel belonging to the Central Industrial Security Force prevented the couple from entering the restricted area as they had no authorisation.

This led to a heated exchange of words. Senior officials of the Airport Authority of India and the CISF explained that it was not possible to oblige the couple as the airport was on a security alert.
