CHENNAI: Tall and lanky Rajesh was announced lucky winner at the Hero Honda Super Splendor `Anything for Namitha' contest held on Friday.

The youngster got to go on a dinner date with the glamorous film star at Fisherman's Cove besides winning a Hero Honda Super Splendor 125 cc bike.

Rajesh (21), a civil engineering graduate, is sure to carry lingering memories of the day when he goes to Australia for higher studies during the next few weeks.

Finalists applauded

The four other finalists, Vijay, Prabhu, Prem and Thirukumaran, tried their best to get to go on the date of their life, and won applause from the audience at `The Rhapsody' in The Courtyard by Marriott hotel in the city on Friday with their histrionic talents.

They had to be satisfied with an iPod Shuffle prize from GadgetsGuru.com.

In the final round of the contest, the five young men danced to numbers from songs in Namitha's films and then answered questions again on her films and career.

When the five young men danced exactly in the same way the song appeared on screen, the star clad in a light-as-a-feather dress watched with great amusement and could sometimes be seen swaying to the music in her seat.

Winning proposal

Thiru and Prem exited at this point. In the final showdown, Vijay, Prabhu and Rajesh each had to go down on their knees ... to propose to Namitha in person. Rajesh's pithy line `At last, here ends my search!' endeared him to Namitha, who pronounced him the winner.

"I did not realise I had so many, many fans all over Tamil Nadu and outside. The response of youngsters to the contest was out of the world," she said, thanking SS Music for organising the contest.
