Steps to check unauthorised constructions

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammed Kutty has directed the Secretary (Local Self Government) to take steps to stop unauthorised construction of buildings, especially during the Onam holidays.

The Minister said in an official release that builders were breaching both the building and coastal zone regulation rules.

The builders carried out the illegal construction activities during the long holidays for Government offices. The local self-governments should be vigilant, he said. Action would be taken against officials of the local bodies who failed to check such constructions. Mr. Mohammed Kutty said unbridled construction activities in tourism zones affected the tourism prospects of the State.
