Rally planned in support of Natwar Singh
Special Correspondent
JAIPUR:
The Rajasthan Kisan Sangarsh Samiti, a new entity, has announced a "self-respect" rally on August 23 here in support of the former External Affairs Minister, Natwar Singh. It said that Mr. Singh had been "humiliated" by "his own party".
The driving force behind the move is the Rajasthan Jat Mahasabha, which stood against the Congress in the 2003 Assembly and the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.
"The rally is to give him moral support," Ridmal Choudhary, Samiti convener, said, claiming that both the Volcker Report and the Pathak Authority did not have anything against Mr. Natwar Singh and his son Jagat Singh. "The farmers' community in Rajasthan is agitated over the issue," he charged.
"Kunwar Natwar Singh is a tie-dhari kisan (a farmer who wears a tie)," Tara Chand Choudhary, spokesman of the Rajasthan Jat Mahasabha, said. "There are not many amongst us who wears ties as he has been an elevated person and a celebrity," he added.
