HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is moving to a new office premises, tentatively on August 9, on the sixth and topmost floor of `C' block in Secretariat. His present office is on the fourth floor. Security is cited as the reason for the shifting. A senior official explained that the office at a higher elevation would avoid possible security risks from the rear of the building on the Mint Compound side and also the rush of visitors who have to necessarily go through the fourth floor to reach the fifth and sixth floors. It is said that this was done to meet Vaastu requirements. The space on the sixth floor has been remodelled at a cost of Rs. 1 crore with a personal chamber, two conference halls, and five anterooms. The plush interior has rich Lepakshi artefacts of Kalamkari, Bidri and Kondapalli toys, all reflecting the rich culture and heritage of the State. A group of artisans was on the job for three months to provide the right ambience when international delegations call on the Chief Minister. Five closed circuit cameras have been installed as an additional security measure, windows made bullet-proof and independent A/C plant installed. The new premises was contemplated by Dr. Reddy's predecessor N. Chandrababu Naidu. There are no indications so far as to whether Dr. Reddy follows Vaastu or nakshatras. Yet, the shifting is set for Sharavana Poornima day on August 9, an auspicious `muhurtham' reportedly fixed by his advisers. His wife Vijayalakshmi had accompanied him with Bible when he occupied the official residence of Chief Minister at Greenlands.
