NEW DELHI: Woman Grandmaster Aarthie Ramaswamy, rated 2216, outsmarted Spain's International Master and ninth seed Jose Antonio Lacasa Diaz (2420) to join Neelotpal Das and eight other leaders with perfect scores after three rounds of the Sitges International Open chess tournament at Sitges, Spain, on Sunday. Aarthie's husband Grandmaster R. B. Ramesh won against Spain's Albert Montell Zabay to reach 2.5 points. Swati Mohota and Sai Meera, however, lost. The results (3rd round, involving Indians): Joan Canal Oliveras (Esp, 2) lost to Neelotpal Das (3); Miguel Munoz Pantoja (Per, 3) bt Swati Mohota (2); Aarthie Ramaswamy (3) bt Jose Antonio Lacasa (Esp, 2); Marcelo Panelo (Arg, 3) bt Sai Meera (2); Albert Montell Zabay (Esp, 1.5) lost to R. B. Ramesh (2.5).
