H.S. Ballal named MAHE Pro-Chancellor

H.S. Ballal and Rajashekharan P. Warrier

MANIPAL: H.S. Ballal has been elevated to the post of Pro-Chancellor of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education deemed university, and Rajashekharan P. Warrier appointed Vice-Chancellor.

According to a release from MAHE here on Tuesday, Prof. Ballal has served as Professor and Head of the Radio-Diagnosis Department and Dean of Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore.

He took over as MAHE Vice-Chancellor in September 2003 and has completed his tenure.

Prof. Ballal has been associated with the Manipal Group of Institutions for the past 35 years. Prof. Warrier, an alumnus of Kasturba Medical College, is a paediatrician.


He had his training at Henry Ford Hospital and Children's Hospital in Michigan, U.S.

He is Professor and Vice-Chairman of Paediatrics, and Director of the Centre for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Centre.

Prof. Warrier is a fellow of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, American Academy of Paediatrics and associations of paediatricians in the U.S.

He is associated with the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.
