Hosur: With Bangalore reaching a saturation point in IT explosion, the adjoining industrial town of Hosur in Tamil Nadu is seen as the next destination for major IT firms to pitch their tents. Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's recent visit to Bangalore has soared hopes in this regard. With the Tamil Nadu Government aiming to promote two-tier and three-tier cities the Government can facilitate investment of IT companies in this town which will give a push to the backward districts of Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri in the State.

Salubrious climate and proximity to the Electronic City, which is just a stone's throw away, has made Hosur an ideal destination for promotion of IT. IT majors, including Infosys and Wipro, are located at the south of Bangalore, which is very near Hosur.

The establishment of an IT park, which has been a long-pending demand, will be a significant step towards sustainable growth.

Though lands are available the Government has to undertake a massive infrastructure upgrade to attract fresh investment in the town, say industrialists.

"With Bangalore already established as an IT centre in the country, Hosur can be developed as a satellite IT hub to Bangalore.

While giving subsidy to IT companies there should be an alternative programme from the State Government to strengthen the existing manufacturing sector and infrastructural facilities in the town, including general and professional education.

Adequate educational infrastructure and human resources should be created in the district, which has the lowest literacy rate in the State, " said Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of India, Deva Perinban.

On instructions from the State Government, the District Administration is in the process of preparing a Hosur Vision document, which will have all infrastructural facilities planned in future.

It is reliably learnt that a core group comprising elected representatives of political parties and members of industrial associations will be formed to identify infrastructural facilities.
