NEW DELHI: Meghalaya Chief Minister J. D. Rymbai said on Saturday that he hoped to get the final approval for his Council of Ministers soon from party president Sonia Gandhi. "The new list is a mix of the old set-up and new faces. The list has been submitted to the party for approval of the Congress president," Mr. Rymbai said at a press conference here this evening. State Congress chief O.L. Nongtdu and secretary of the Congress Legislature Party Charles Pyngrope were also present on the occasion. Ms. Gandhi is touring Rae Bareli constituency and is scheduled to return here on Sunday. Speaking to The Hindu separately, Oscar Fernandes, in-charge of party affairs in the State, said the new team would be finalised by Sunday. The Congress list would include its quota of eight Ministers. Mr. Rymbai said there were several reasons for dissidence in the Congress and it could not be attributed to downsizing. He expressed confidence that the coalition Government would last its term. Mr. Rymbai said he would have to analyse the causes that led to dissension against his predecessor D.D. Lapang. Asked for his views on the move to mine uranium in the Khasi hills, the Chief Minister and the PCC chief said that while the area people had no objection to it, the Government was yet to take a decision.
