Government plans to acquire 500 acres for Telangana University

HYDERABAD: The State Government is planning to acquire 300 acres for Aadikavi Nannaiah University at Rajahmundry, 400 acres for Yogi Vemana University at Kadapa and over 500 acres for Telangana University at Nizamabad.

A decision on this was reportedly taken at a meeting Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had with officials on the progress of the three new universities being set up in the State from this academic year.

The officials also informed the Chief Minister about the proposed courses. Post Graduate courses in M.Sc in subjects like Organic Chemistry, Geo-Informatics, and Zoology with aqua culture is likely to be introduced in Aadikavi Nannaiah University.

Telangana University is likely to offer courses in M.Sc (Plant Sciences). M.Com (E-Commerce) and M.A. (Mass Communication) while Yogi Vemana University is likely to offer M.Sc courses in Disaster Management and Remote Sensing, Applied Geology (Mining and Mineral Exploration) and Botany apart from M.A. in Human Resources Development and Telugu Studies. All the three universities will offer MBA and MCA courses also.

Officials said the notification of the admission procedures and schedule would come out soon and the Government is keen on starting the courses by September this year. A committee has been constituted to finalise the courses and the entire admission procedure. Officials said the Chief Minister called for imparting quality education while taking the employability factor into account.
