Thirumavalavan not to contest

CHENNAI: Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) general secretary Thol.Thirumavalavan will not contest the Assembly elections.

Announcing this while releasing the party candidates' list here on Thursday, Mr.Thirumavalavan said he would tour the State extensively to canvass for the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam front candidates and hence the decision not to contest polls.

As his party was not recognised by the Election Commission, the candidates would be contesting on free symbols. He was confident that the party would get State party status by winning enough seats.

Following is the list:

1. Mugaiyur - M.S. Chinthanaiselvan

2. Arur - K. Govindasami

3. Sirkazhai - P. Unjai Arasan

4. Kattumannargudi -D. Ravikumar

5. Ulundoorpet - E. Visayaraghavan

6. Valparai - Susi Kalaiarasan

7. Chengam - P. Attralarasu;

8. Mangalore - K. Selvaperunthagai;

9. Sriperumpudur - K. Ilamaran.
