HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy laid the foundation for the Elevated Expressway corridor from Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazar junction to Aramgarh junction on National Highway No.7 for giving faster access to International Airport at Shamshabad here on Thursday. The Chief Minister, who keenly observed the model of elevated expressway corridor, displayed at the venue opposite Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, expressed happiness that with a length of 11.34 km it would become the longest flyover in the country.

He congratulated the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, the nodal agency for initiating the project. The proposal for the Rs.600-crore expressway corridor with unique features like `Trumpet interchange' facilitating smooth flow of vehicles coming from various directions to the International Airport was submitted by the GMR Group. Under the `Swiss Challenge' method, if a lower bid was submitted, it would be favoured, Dr.Rajasekhar Reddy said.
