BANGALORE: The former president of the Karnataka State Government Employees' Association (KSGEA), K. Sippe Gowda, has challenged his dismissal from service in the Karnataka High Court. Mr. Sippe Gowda was employed as a court officer in the High Court. He joined service on February 14, 1972 as a second division assistant and was promoted as first division assistant in 1979. He was promoted as an assistant court officer in 1991 and as a court officer in 1994. On September 12, 2005, the then Chief Justice of the High Court, Navdeep Kumar Sodhi, who was also the disciplinary authority, had dismissed him from service. Mr. Sippe Gowda has challenged his dismissal on several grounds and also sought for an interim order of stay of the operation and all further proceedings in pursuance of his dismissal. The disciplinary authority had dismissed him on the ground that he had not attended work and that he had marked attendance in the attendance register and went away from the High Court without doing any work. Mr. Sippe Gowda has denied all the charges.
