VISAKHAPATNAM: The Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation has asked the Transport Department to implement the ban plying of autorickshaws on the National Highway. This request was made by Executive Director of the Vizianagaram Zone C. Damodara Dass at the Zonal Advisory Committee meeting held here on Friday. Deputy Transport Commissioner S. Venkateswara Rao, responding to the request, said that the order would be implemented though the department was under-staffed.
RTC plea
Regarding the APSRTC's request to repair the roads damaged due to recent rains and floods to avoid damaged to tyres and springs and reduce diesel consumption, the Panchayat Raj and R and B officials said that the repairs were being taken up on a priority basis. Chairman of the Zonal Advisory Committee Majji Narayana Rao assured the PR and R and B officials that he would take up the issue with their higher officials if they faced difficulty in completing repairs. Regional Managers of APSRTC's Visakhapatnam and East Godavari Regions, D. Satyanarayana and N. Vivekananda, respectively, RM in-charge of Vizianagaram Region G. Rama Kanth, Divisional Manager of Srikakulam Region B. Chittibabu, Executive Engineer of APSRTC P. Gajapathi Raju, Deputy CPM of Vizianagaram ZoneSridhar, DTCs of East Godavari, Vizianagaram and Srikakulamand others attended the meeting.
