A turning point?

The cartoon (Nov. 23) aptly conveys the situation in Bihar. It shows people have come out to end the 15-year RJD rule. This mandate may well prove a turning point in the State's progress. It also strengthens our faith in democracy.

Vrushabha Kumar P.,
Belthangady, Karnataka

Disgruntled with the rising tide of corruption and concomitant lawlessness over the last 15 years, the electorate has relegated the RJD to the margin. The victorious NDA should harness the potential of the State blessed with abundant resources.

Aravind Sridhar,
New Delhi

Finally, the RJD's decade-and-a-half rule has ended. Actually, this period should have been enough for any party to put the State in progressive mode and ensure the empowerment of its people. The RJD did neither and paid the price.

V. Rajesh,
Mumbai

The people will feel let down if the new Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, fails to learn lessons from the mistakes of the past.

Rameeza A. Rasheed,
Chennai

Kudos to Mr. Kumar on his landslide victory. He has to rid the State of corruption and fear, create employment opportunities, provide electricity and develop roads. The list is endless.

Manzar Imam,
New Delhi

Bihar, which should have been the richest State given its abundant mineral wealth, has unfortunately remained backward. Mismanagement is the reason. Now the NDA under Mr. Kumar has the chance to correct the situation.

J. Dasgupta,
Coimbatore
