Staff Reporter

Hyderabad to be made exam centre soon

Hyderabad: For the sixth consecutive year the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, has chosen Image Hospitals here to conduct its overseas postgraduate course in general surgery. As many as 60 surgical trainees, including three from abroad, are attending the five-day course, which will conclude on Friday.

The course prepares surgical trainees from India to take the Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) examination in the country itself. The examination for the present course will be held next month at Mumbai and Chennai. "Hyderabad will also be made an examination centre in the near future," said Pradip Datta, honorary secretary, Member of Council and Tutor, Royal College of Surgeons.

He told presspersons on Thursday that all components of the MRCS examination were being held in India and doctors need not go all the way to UK. The course was being offered in India since 1988.

The first two courses were held in Kolkata and subsequently in Hyderabad.
