VIJAYAWADAGUNTUR: Only three persons filed nominations in three different divisions on the first day of filing nominations here on Thursday. Former Congress corporator Tadikonda Mallikarjuna Rao filed nomination papers for the 22nd division. Two other Congress party sympathizers Kunapareddi Swarna Kumari and Madu Rambabu filed nominations for divisions 43 and 44 respectively. Municipal Commissioner N.Gulzar briefing the newspersons in the evening released the names of persons who filed their nominations. He said preparations were being made for 6.4 lakh voters to exercise their franchise in the 59 divisions of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation on September 24.
12 nominations filed
VIJAYAWADAGUNTUR: Twelve nominations were filed in 11 municipalities and one municipal corporation in Guntur district on Thursday, the first day of filing papers. There are 386 wards in these 12 local bodies for which elections will take place this month. While only one nomination was filed in the Guntur Municipal Corporation by a woman candidate - Outhu Bharati from the Division No.18, eleven other nominations were filed in five other municipalities. No nomination was filed in Bapatla, Chilakaluripet, Macherla, Narsaraopet, Piduguralla, and Ponnur municipalities as the list of contesting candidates was not finalized by the political parties so far.
