court verdict

Thiruvananthapuram: The Supreme Court verdict on self-financing colleges will make professional education inaccessible for the poor, Sebastian Paul, MP, has said. Inaugurating a discussion on the verdict organised by Rachana, cultural wing of Kerala Secretariat Employees Association here on Thursday, Mr. Paul said that this would lead to commercialisation of the education sector. Association president K. Subadramma presided over the function.

Award presented

Thiruvananthapuram: Additional Director-General of Police Jacob Punnoose on Thursday presented the Ravindran Memorial Good Samaritan Award to K.S. Santhosh, constable attached to the Police Telecommunication wing, who rescued an accident victim. The award was instituted by the Automobile Association of South India as part of its centenary celebrations. Association president T.D. Sadasivam presided over the programme. Assistant secretary M.S. Joseph proposed a vote of thanks.

Thiruvananthapuram: The regional level roller skating competition of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan was inaugurated by Jyothi Prakash, president, Roller Skating Academy, Kerala, at Agriculture University Campus, Vellayani, on Thursday.
