KOCHI: The Association of Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University Teachers' has alleged that the Vice-Chancellor of the university was hiding the real facts that led to the suspension of Shaji Jacob, faculty member of Thrissur centre. Reacting to allegations raised against some teachers by the Vice-Chancellor K. S. Radhakrishnan, the association general secretary Dharmaraj Ambat, said in a communication that all the teachers at the Thrissur centre had protested against the behaviour of Syndicate members who visited the campus on August 23. The Vice-Chancellor had said on Wednesday that Dr. Jacob was suspended for shouting slogans against the Syndicate members. Dr. Ambat said that faculty members of the centre had submitted a complaint to the Vice-Chancellor against the behaviour of the syndicate members. In the letter, seven teachers of the Thrissur centre said that the syndicate members insulted them in front of students. Syndicate members summoned a faculty member to the Director's room and misbehaved with her for signing the attendance register in the wrong column. Dr. Ambat said that the syndicate members had to get prior permission from the university for examining the attendance register of teachers. The syndicate members, who came to discuss land acquisition formalities, started checking the attendance register. The members also took the register outside the campus. The teachers at the Thrissur centre had also asked the Vice-Chancellor to take action against the syndicate members for misbehaving with the teachers, he said. He said that the Vice-Chancellor's claim that the syndicate had decided to suspend Dr. Jacob was false.
