Shipmaster held

KOLKATA: Shipmaster of cargo vessel M. V. Mani, which hit the Howrah Bridge on Friday and got stuck under it, has been arrested as Port Trust officials carried out an inspection of the bridge to ascertain the damage. Official sources said the shipmaster was produced before the court on Saturday. Port Trust Chairman A. K. Chanda, who inspected the bridge during the day, said the trolley guide and string girder, which were damaged due to the unprecedented accident in the history, would have to be repaired. — UNI
